Pedro to Manchester United: Winger scores late winner in his 'final' Barcelona game before imminent United move

Just hours after telling a Barcelona official he wanted to leave the club, Manchester United target Pedro scored the late winner for the club in their 5-4 Super Cup triumph over Sevilla last night, in what appears to be a fitting farewell.

Before the game, Barcelona's technical secretary Robert Fernandez said of the Spain winger, who has been strongly linked with United all summer and has a £22m release clause:

"Pedro has told me he wants to go. The buyout clause in his contract is not negotiable but this could be his final game."

Pedro then came off the bench in extra-time and struck the decisive goal in the 115th minute from close range.

It has been reported that United are close to agreeing a deal for the 28-year-old, who will replace Angel Di Maria.

Pedro has scored 99 goals in 319 games for Barcelona, and has won five La Liga titles with the club.

Lionel Messi, who scored two free-kicks in the Super Cup win last night, said of his team-mate's future: "The players and the club don't know what he is going to do. It is his decision, but whatever he does we wish him the best."
