PSG transfer news: Thomas Tuchel extends contract to end Massimiliano Allegri rumours

The German boss has committed his future to the French champions after recent speculation of a change in the capital

Thomas Tuchel has extended his contract at Paris Saint-Germain to end speculation that Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri will replace him in the capital.

The German boss has put pen to paper on a new deal until 2021 after his debut campaign saw domestic success but ultimate failure in the Champions League.

Despite winning Ligue 1 and the Trophee des Champions, speculation began in recent weeks about a change.

The damaging defeat to Manchester United in the Champions League last 16 left PSG frustrated at their inability to break through in Europe.

But after fearing the worst, Tuchel expressed his delight at the club’s backing.

“I’m delighted to extend my contract and commitment to Paris Saint-Germain,” said Tuchel.

“I’d like to thank the Chairman and the whole club for their trust in me and my staff.

“This only reinforces my ambition to bring this team to the very top through hard work. I’m also very touched by the backing of our supporters, and I’m sure that the best is yet to come for our club.”

Tuchel had admitted the rumours were getting him down and asked the media for information on his future.

“Honestly, I’m quite worried that I keep getting asked these questions (about Allegri and his future),” Tuchel said this week. “It feels like everyone knows something that I don’t,” said Tuchel with tongue firmly in cheek.

“Do you have information? Should I be worried? I know anything can happen in football…”
