Radamel Falcao might not be at Manchester United next season, admits agent Jorge Mendes

The clearest indication yet that Radamel Falcao may not have a future at Manchester United has been made after his agent admitted his client is not certain to remain at Old Trafford.

The Colombian striker, who is currently on loan with the Red Devils, was left out of the squad for the recent defeat to Southampton.

Louis van Gaal said that the decision to leave the striker out was tactical, which seemed strange considering the inclusion of three defenders among the substitutes and James Wilson, the 19-year-old who is yet to score in 11 appearances this term.

The decision has left Falcao's future in doubt, despite suggestions earlier in the season that United were set to take up an agreement that means they can but the 28-year-old from Monaco for around £43m.

The player's agent, Jorge Mendes, has now confirmed the suspicions that the former Atletico Madrid player could be at a different club next season.

“I don't know [where his future is],” Mendes is quoted in The Telegraph. “He is a fantastic player, and I think it's very difficult for Manchester United fans.

“They have an absolutely brilliant player, one of the very best in the world, who would without any doubt play 90 minutes of the match, every time, with any other club."

He continued: “The truth is, right now we don't know what will happen. What we do know is that he will play in one of the very best clubs in the world next season, whether that is Manchester United or not.

“I am 100 per cent sure of that. But you know how football works, we need to wait a little. We'll see what happens.”
