Manchester City are mulling a £25m for England and Everton youngster Ross Barkley.

Former Toffees man Jack Rodwell could be used also be used as bait in the move, according to the Daily Mirror.

After a stellar season at Goodison Park the 20-year-old was picked in Roy Hodgson's England squad. He featured in all three matches in the doomed campaign, coming on as a substitute twice and starting the final game against Costa Rica.

Rodwell is unhappy at the Etihad having only played 10 matches under Manuel Pellegrini last season - he's only played in 26 matches since his £12m move to Manchester, with 15 of those coming from the bench.

Newcastle and Sunderland are also reported to be interested in the 23-year-old Rodwell.
