Tom Cleverley could still leave Manchester United - even though the transfer window shut last night.

According to a BBC journalist, Cleverley could yet complete a loan move to Aston Villa.

Paul Lambert, as well as a number of other clubs, had been linked with a move for Cleverley before Everton came in and became favourites for the 25-year-old England midfielder.

Cleverley's wage demands causes the deal to Everton to fall through and Villa are said to have made a late move to take him on loan at Villa Park.

It is now up to the Premier League to decide whether the paperwork was completed in time for the deal to be completed, with Cleverley reported to still have been at Manchester United's Carrington training ground until 2am.
