Tottenham have not dropped their interest in Real Madrid midfielder Isco after keeping tabs on the Spaniard during the summer transfer window.

Isco has only started twice for the European Cup holders this season with the likes of Mateo Kovacic and Marco Asensio moving ahead of him in the pecking order this season, while the Luka Modric and Toni Kroos hold down the two central midfield options.

Spurs are believed to have made enquiries about the 24-year-old in the closing days of the transfer window just passed as they looked to bolster their attacking options to take the pressure off Harry Kane and Dele Alli, but neither party made a decisive move according to the Evening Standard.

Isco made it clear during the summer that he would consider his options if he was continued to be overlooked by manager Zinedine Zidane and that he would favour a move to either Tottenham or back to his old club Malaga.

The Spain international’s current contract expires in the summer of 2018 meaning that he could be available at a cut price in the summer as he goes into his final 12 months.

Should he continue to have his time limited by Zidane then a loan in January looks the most likely option with an obligation to buy at the end of the season.
