Italian giants AC Milan have reportedly enquired into the availability of Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel - but it remains to be seen whether the Dane is willing to leave the Championship leaders.

Five points clear of second-placed Queens Park Rangers, Leicester are unwilling to sell any of their star players this month.

Schmeichel, a firm fans' favourite at the King Power Stadium, has impressed in the East Midlands and looks set to send Leicester on their way to the Premier League after a ten year absence.

The former Manchester City and Leeds United 'keeper is out of contract in the summer and has already attracted the attention of Crystal Palace but is reluctant to leave half way through a season which could end in glory.

Sky Sports report that the enquiry arrived this morning.

Milan, on the other hand, are managed by club legend Clarence Seedorf after a disastrous start to their Serie A campaign and lie in eleventh place - thirty points behind leaders Juventus and just eight above the relegation zone.

Speaking after their 1-0 win at Elland Road last weekend, the Danish shot stopper pledged his allegiance to Nigel Pearson's side and told his Leicester teammates to wait until the summer to address their futures.

"The most important thing for everyone who is out of contract is earning it," Schmeichel told the Leicester Mercury.

"Getting to the Premier League is the goal and then we can sort all that out.

"At the moment, I think it would be a distraction if we started getting too wound up about all that.

"We have got ourselves in such a good position. At the moment, I think we are earning our new contracts and if we keep doing what we are doing, then we will put the whole club in a very good position.

"I don't need to (get his contract sorted). There is no need at the moment to cloud what is going on. There is no need for distractions. For the players, it is about getting to the Premier League and then contracts will sort themselves out."

Leicester have been scouring the market for cover in goal this winter, with only 27-year-old Conrad Logan in back-up to Schmeichel.

Following their interest in Liam Moore last week, Fulham are set to make another offer for Leicester's centre-back as well as left-back Jeff Schlupp.
