Spaniard could be the answer to French champions' creativity problems

Chelsea's Juan Mata could be leaving the Premier League, with a deal reportedly in the offing with Paris Saint-Germain.

The Spanish midfield star is thought to be out of favour with boss Jose Mourinho, and has only started one of the club's first three Premier League matches.

The 25-year-old is holding talks with the French champions, according to French television station Infosport Plus. Arsenal were also linked.

Mata could be the answer to PSG's creativity problems. Argentine playmaker Javier Pastore has not had a good start to the season, and was booed at the Parc des Princes in the last two home games.

Mata - who scored for Spain in the Euro 2012 final - cost the Stamford Bridge club £23 million when he moved from Valencia two seasons ago. He has since scored 18 goals in 61 league starts, bagging the club's player of the year award in both seasons.

With the World Cup in a year's time, Mata will be keen to get regular first team football and keep himself in international contention.

On Saturday, Spain manager Vicente Del Bosque left Mata out of his squad for the World Cup qualifier against Finland, having left him out of their last friendly, against Ecuador.

But only a few days ago Mourinho insisted Mata still had a place at the club, saying: "Everything is clear between me and the player. We have no problems.

"I think he's a very important player for us. He wants to be a very important player for us.

"He wants to stay. I want him to stay, the club want him to stay.

"There is no story."

Mourinho has a host of options in the three players who play behind the main striker, boosted last week with the signing of Willian from Anzhi Makhachkala.
