Transfer news: Crystal Palace fail in loan bid for Manchester United winger Wilfried Zaha
United winger could be set for a spell away from Old Trafford - just not with former club Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace won't be re-signing Wilfried Zaha on loan this January after Manchester United informed the Eagles that they would prefer to offload the winger elsewhere.
The 21-year-old has made just four appearances since swapping Palace for United in the summer after a £15m move.
Despite interest from Stoke City, Newcastle United and Cardiff City; Palace had hoped to take the England international back to Selhurst Park.
But new Eagles manager Tony Pulis said today: "We’ve spoken to David Moyes about Zaha and I don’t think he’s too keen on him coming back to London. It’s not a problem for us, he’s a Manchester United player.
"We don’t think it’s a goer, although we were very keen if there was a possibility to take him on."
It's thought that Moyes would prefer for Zaha to avoid being drawn into a relegation dogfight, while playing on a regular basis would be another condition of any deal.
Pulis, on the other hand, has turned his attentions elsewhere.
"There are irons in other fires and we’re working hard to bring other players in," he told talkSPORT.
"It’s what we need to do. I said when I came here that this window was important to Palace. If we can have a good window then that gives us a better opportunity of staying up."
Palace remain keen on a deal for Everton striker Nikica Jelavic as proposals from West Ham and QPR stall.
