Summer transfer window: Likely deals and biggest rumours

The transfer window is very nearly open and the rumour mill is whirring into action.

The likes of Kylian Mbappe, Alvaro Morata, Andrea Belotti, Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez have all been linked with moves in what promises to be another summer of bumper signings.

Still, a number of clubs have set about their business early. Manchester City are the summer’s early pace setters, having already signed both Bernardo Silva and Ederson, while Mohamed Salah recently joined Liverpool in a £34.3m move from Roma.

Everton are the other big spenders so far in the window, signing Jordan Pickford from Sunderland for £30m and Ajax’s Davy Klaassen for £23.6m.

Arturo Vidal has once again urged Bayern Munich to sign his Chile teammate Alexis Sanchez this summer.

Sanchez has one year left on his Arsenal contract as talks of a renewal continue to stall.

The player has subsequently been linked with a move away from the Emirates, with Bayern, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City all touted as potential destinations for the Chilean.

Germany winger Julian Brandt has ruled out a move to Liverpool this summer insisting a move to a bigger club is too much of a risk a year before a World Cup – although it could materialise next year.

Jurgen Klopp had been keeping an eye on the 21-year-old as he looked to add another attacker following the £34.3m signing of Mohamed Salah, with Bayern Munich also interested in the Beyer Leverkusen man.

Leverkusen had a poor season last term which involved a 12th-place finish and the sacking of head coach Roger Schmidt.

Brandt, who is currently with Germany at the Confederations Cup, feels partially to blame for the club’s poor form, leading to his father and agent both denying he would leave the club.

Tottenham have no intention of selling Harry Kane, thoughManchester United manager Jose Mourinho is, and has been for some time, a keen admirer of the England international.

Kane, who captained his country in their last World Cup qualifier, has been a revelation since bursting into the Spurs first team underMauricio Pochettino, and has proven himself as one of Europe's finest goalscorers over multiple seasons.

There are few pure number nines of Kane's quality and, crucially, age. United also love Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich but a serious investment in the Polish forward is difficult with him turning 29 this summer. 23 year-old Kane promises goals and longevity.

League One Shrewsbury Town have become the first English club to apply for safe standing at their Greenhour Meadow home.

Should Shrewsbury win approval from the Sports Ground Safety Authority, then they would become the first all-seater stadium in England and Wales to introduce safe standing.

Alvaro Morata's move to Manchester United could be getting closer - according to his wife at least.

Morata is Jose Mourinho's number one target to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic with only the small matter of his transfer fee standing in the way of a move to Old Trafford.

All has been a little quiet over the last fortnight but social media has been sent into meltdown after Alice Campello, whom the Real Madrid star married in Venice last weekend, followed United on Instagram.

She only follows two clubs: United and Real.

Cue wild scenes of excitement.

Liverpool are set to avoid any punishment for alleged illegal approach for Virgil van Dijk.

The Southampton centre-half was Jurgen Klopp's number one transfer target this summer with the club confident of beating Manchester City and Chelsea to his £60million signature.

But following initial discussions between the two parties and reports that the Dutchman had agreed to move to Anfield the Saints reported the Reds to the Premier League.

Dembele on the move?

Some transfer news from France this Tuesday lunchtime.

Le 10 Sport claim that Ousmane Dembele has travelled to England to speak to Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola – and may even have dinner with him one night this week.

The newspaper report that it is unknown whether Dembele has travelled to Manchester with the permission of his club, who have repeatedly insisted this summer that they do not want to sell.
