Jack Wilshere is to be allowed to leave Arsenal on loan after reportedly expressing concerns over his future with manager Arsene Wenger.

The England midfielder has struggled to cement a first-team place with both club and country in recent seasons after a succession of crippling injuries and, ahead of the summer transfer window closing tomorrow night, he is now looking for a club.

According to the Daily Mirror, Wenger has been keen to stress that Wilshere’s long-term future lies in north London and is unlikely to allow him to join a top-four rival. By leaving the Emirates for a short spell, it is hoped the 24-year-old will be able to finally live up to his billing as one of the most exciting talents in English football.

Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart, meanwhile, is on the verge of an intriguing loan move to join Torino. The England goalkeeper was given permission by the Football Association to travel to Italy to complete a medical ahead of the World Cup qualifier with Slovakia.

Hart has been told by City manager Pep Guardiola that he would be relegated to third in the goalkeeping pecking order at the Etihad after the signing of Claudio Bravo from Barcelona was confirmed last week.

Despite reports of a loan move to Everton, Ronald Koeman is not interested in taking the 29-year-old for a season and so Hart was forced to look further afield.

Premier League champions Leicester City, on the other hand, are closing in on Islam Slimani after the Algeria international appeared to bid an emotional goodbye to Sporting Lisbon after scoring in the 2-1 victory against Porto on Sunday.

The two parties are locked in talks over a proposed club-record transfer worth in the region of £30m.

Slimani, an international team-mate of Leicester’s winger Riyad Mahrez, scored 27 goals last term as Sporting finished runners-up to Benfica in the Primeira Liga and is contracted with the Verdes e Brancos until 2020.

Claudio Ranieri, the Leicester manager, has also been linked with a move for another Sporting star with Portuguese midfielder Adrien Silva, 27, appearing to confirm reports that he is destined for a £20m switch to the King Power Stadium.

Quizzed about Leicester’s interest by Porto-based newspaper O Jogo, Silva said: “Yes, I confirm this proposal. Leicester is very interesting and corresponds to my career goals.

“After the past 15 years at Sporting, this opportunity is something exceptional for me and can allow me to express and impose myself in another championship, and also to evolve in the Premier League, which is a stunning league.”
