Spurs want Ake to replace Alderweireld
Tottenham are planning for life without Toby Alderweireld by weighing up a bid for Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake.
The Sun claims that Spurs are preparing a £40m offer for the 24-year-old, who joined the south coast club from Chelsea in 2017.
Spurs have also scouted Callum Wilson and David Brooks, although Ake is at the top of their wish list given the precarious contract situation of Alderweireld.
The Belgium international has just 12 months left on his current contract and has a release clause of £25m, which Manchester United are reportedly ready to meet.
Arsenal to bid for Carrasco?
Arsenal have reportedly made a bid for Belgium star Yannick Carrasco, according to Spanish publication SPORT.
The long-term Arsenal target revealed this week that Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang had received an offer for his services.
To the delight of transfer news and rumour blogs the world over, Carrasco declined to mention the identity of the club wanting to sign him, but SPORT believe they know.
They have claimed Arsenal are desperate to sign the 25-year-old, particularly after Denis Suarez’s loan move fell flat.
Speaking to Belgian website Nieuwsblad, Carrasco said: "There is now an offer on the table and the negotiations with my agent are progressing well.
"I am the most important player in the club, but I hope the chairman understands me."

Jesse Lingard is set to be offered a new contract extension at Manchester United, according to The Sun.
The 26-year-old has two years left on his current deal but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to secure the futures of his integral players.
The Sun reports that Lingard's current wages will increase by a quarter to £130,000 a week.
Arsenal on verge of double deal?
Arsenal are on the verge of a double deal for Sampdoria stars Dennis Praet and Joachim Andersen, according to reports in Italy.
The club are poised to spend £42m in total on midfielder Praet and defender Andersen.
La Gazzetta dello Sport claim Arsenal have ‘taken steps forward’ to finalise a deal for the duo.
Praet could step in to replace Mesut Ozil, whose future at the club remains unclear, while Andersen would help to tighen up Arsenal's leaky backline.
Manchester City are set to pip Chelsea to the signing of Millwall youngster Samuel Edozie, according to the Sun.
Both clubs have been monitoring the Nigerian winger after he emerged as one of Millwall's most exciting prospects.
But it looks like the Premier League champions will beat their rivals to the 16-year-old, who could fetch as much as £1m.
Millwall are reportedly eager to hold on to the youngster in order to further his development.
English midfielder Sean Longstaff has said he is "100 per cent focused" on Newcastle despite interest from Manchester United.
The midfielder emerged as a surprise target for United ahead of the summer transfer window, having caught their eye during a 13-game run in the Newcastle first-team last season.
When asked about the prospect of a move to Old Trafford, Longstaff said: "It just shows how far I’ve come.
"If someone told us at the start of the season that by the end of it you’d be linked with these teams I’d have laughed at them but it’s nice, it’s flattering.
"I’m massively flattered to have my name even mentioned in those conversations but like I said, I’m 100 per cent focused on Newcastle and trying to get fit and get back in the team here."
Arsenal to hijack Napoli deal?
The French media are reporting that Arsenal have approached Serie A side Fiorentina about signing midfielder Jordan Veretout.
That’s despite the Frenchman being on the verge of a move to Italian rivals Napoli.
L’Equipe report that Unai Emery is desperate to sign a box-to-box midfielder to replace Aaron Ramsey and believes that Veretout could be that man.
The 26-year-old, who had a brief and unsuccessful loan spell at Aston Villa, is available for around £18m.
Southgate going nowhere
England manager Gareth Southgate has ruled out a move to Chelsea.
A year on from bowing out of the World Cup in an extra-time semi-final loss to Croatia, the Three Lions are again nursing their wounds after Holland inflicted a 3-1 defeat in the final four of the inaugural Nations League in Portugal.
Southgate was quick to focus on his side’s progress and the attempts to win Euro 2020 on home soil next summer – a mouth-watering opportunity that means a return to club management is not in his thinking right now.
“The only thing on my mind is that we’ve got a European Championship next summer and we’ve got to keep improving this team to be the best possible team we can be for the country,” the former Middlesbrough boss, contracted until the 2022 World Cup, said.
