Summer transfer window 2018: Latest Premier League deals and rumours round-up

The Premier League’s summer transfer window is open with Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal set to be busier than ever.

For the first time in over two decades Arsenal will head into the offseason with a new manager at the helm. That man will be former PSG boss Unai Emery after a stunning 11th hour change of heart at the Emirates. At United Jose Mourinho looks set to spend big again as he targets reinforcements in his bid to haul in record-breaking Manchester City next season. A new left-back and central midfield player are high on his list. Fred, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and others are in the frame.

Liverpool have enjoyed success in the Champions League this term and their quest to end their league title drought in 2019 will be bolstered by the arrival of Naby Keita from RB Leipzig - he will not be the last new face on Merseyside, however with Lyon's Nabil Fekir one to watch. Chelsea could well be looking for a new manager themselves but Mauricio Pochettino has signed a new long-term contract at Tottenham Hotspur in a huge boost to the club.

We will have all the latest news, views, rumours, gossip and done deals right here so don't touch that dial.

Mikel Arteta will stay at Manchester City for the time being after Unai Emery emerged as Arsene Wenger's successor.

The former Arsenal player was tipped as a possible replacement for the outgoing Gunners boss, although any hopes were dashed by reports that Emery is swapping Paris for north London.

The Spaniard, 36, is expected to be offered a two-year contract to remain part of Pep Guardiola's coaching team.

Jose Mourinho hopes to add to Manchester United’s trophy cabinet next season by going on a £250million summer spending spree, the Mirror reports.

After coming away from the 2017-18 season empty-handed, the manager is said to be targeting Tottenham centre-back Toby Alderweireld as well as midfielder Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk, Napoli’s Jorginho and Nice’s Jean Michael Seri.

And if that was not enough, Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale is also a possibility to boost the squad for next year, the paper says.

Mark Hughes has been rewarded for keeping Southampton in the Premier League with a new three-year deal.

The former Wales, Manchester City and Stoke boss was tasked with keeping the Saints in the top flight when he took charge in March.

He did just that and will now stay at St Mary's - along with assistants Mark Bowen and Eddie Niedzwiecki - until the summer of 2021.

"Mark, Eddie and I are thrilled to have signed long-term contracts with the club. It was the only option we considered, having spent the last eight weeks with the club," Hughes said.

"Now it is vital that we take the unbelievable support we received from the fans during the last few games into next season.

"The staff and the players will work hard every day to deliver the success this club deserves, and with everyone pulling together we will achieve our goals."
