Bolton Wanderers manager Dougie Freedman has revealed that Swansea City have made contact with the club to discuss a potential offer for David Ngog.
The 24-year-old's contact runs out at the end of the season and the Championship club had already received two enquiries for his services before Christmas.
It would now appear most likely that the former Liverpool striker, believed to be on £35,000-a-week wages at the Reebok Stadium, will return to the Premier League after the Swans showed their hand.
"Swansea enquired last night (Wednesday) about David Ngog's availability," revealed Freedman.
"As we speak right now the two chairmen are talking to see what they can do or what they would like to do. David Ngog is aware of it and he's also having a look at his position.
"There's six months to go left on his contract, I'm in a difficult position, it's very hard to stop a young player going to the Premier League and it's very hard to stop a player with six months left on his contract."
Wanderers' recent financial reports suggested that tough times lay ahead for Freedman's side, but the former Crystal Palace manager is desperate for new recruits to reverse the fortunes of a team who were thrashed 7-1 by Reading last weekend.

Yarmolenko has scored eight league goals in sixteen appearances for Kiev this season, and has fourteen goals for Ukraine. Ilkay Gundogan to Manchester United, £25m United’s search for midfield reinforcements has led them to Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan, although they could face a fight with Real Madrid to sign the Germany international. With Anderson at Fiorentina on loan, it is believed David Moyes has stepped up his interest in 23-year-old Gundogan whose contract expires in 18 months and is valued at £25m. Part of the attraction is that the midfielder is not cup-tied for the Champions League as he has been out for most of the season with a back injury, although German newspaper Bild reports that Real are also admirers. “I will soon make a decision that will be well considered. It’s still really open,” Gundogan said yesterday.
