Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is targeting Sevilla's Yevhen Konoplyanka, Shakhtar Donetsk's coach Mircea Lucescu has revealed.

A hooded Mourinho was in Kiev last week to watch Konoplyanka's Ukraine lose 1-0 to Spain.

Shakhtar Donetsk manager Mircea Lucescu says he spoken to Mourinho and confirmed that 26-year-old Konoplyanka, along with Andriy Yarmolenko and Alex Teixeira, were all being considered as options for Stamford Bridge.

"Mourinho is interested in Yevhen Konoplyanka," Lucescu said. "I was at Ukraine versus Spain with Mourinho and he is interested in some players.

"Perhaps it is Yarmolenko or Teixeira, if not, then it is Konoplyanka."

Konoplyanka moved from Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk to the La Liga side Sevilla during the summer.

The Blues got back to winning ways on Saturday, beating Aston Villa 2-0, and Mourinho lauded the character of Diego Costa after the striker returned from his three-match suspension to inspire Chelsea to a much-needed victory.

Costa was banned retrospectively for violent conduct against Arsenal and the Premier League champions' woeful start to the season was extended in his absence.

"We need him," Mourinho said. "When we lose him we're a bit in trouble because the team depends always on a striker like him, from a character, from a personality like him. So when we don't have him, of course we miss him."
