Jurgen Klopp's Reds were on course for a quadruple last season but were forced to settle for just an FA Cup and Carabao Cup win and will return trying to win the title again just as they did in 2020.
It was a dramatic season for Chelsea a year ago with Roman Abramovich now replaced by Todd Boehly as owner in west London. He will want an instant return on his hefty investment at Stamford Bridge while Tottenham, back in the Champions League, will want to kick on once more too.
It's not all about the action at the top though with Fulham, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest promoted to the top tier for 2021/22 and hoping to hold their own against the best English football has to offer and avoid the drop.

Wolves are well worth their half-time lead. They have had better chances than Brentford and are causing Hickey and Henry all sorts of problems. The Bees' full-backs like getting forward, but they are getting exposed defensively, with Nunes and Sarabia getting forward effectively to stretch the pitch. Costa has been used as a target man, something Brentford should try and replicate with Toney. The striker has had a few shots but has not really been involved in the game. Most of his work has been done outside the box. Mbeumo and Schade are playing on the wings but need to get closer to him.

Costa's first goal for Wolves is the difference at half-time with Lopetegui's men leading. The hosts were the better side in the opening few minutes and almost extraordinarily took the lead. Sarabia's backheel found Lemina on the edge of the box, with the midfielder's curling effort pushed over the bar by Raya. Toney had an overhead kick saved by Sa and two shots blocked before Wolves took the lead. Costa passed the ball to Toti down the left flank with the full-back rushing forward before finding the striker in the box. His first touch set the ball away from his reach, but Norgaard's poked clearance hit the foot of the striker and past Raya.

Wolves have their last chance of the half after Costa wins a corner off Pinnock. Sarabia's cross is cleared away with the home side unable to trouble Brentford's defence before the whistle is blown.
