Women’s World Cup in numbers

The Netherlands will play the United States for the Women's World Cup title after Jackie Groenen sealed a 1-0 victory over Sweden in extra-time on Wednesday night.

A slick passing sequence ended in the 99th minute with Groenen driving a shot from outside the penalty area past goalkeeper Hedvig Lindahl.

The goal that broke the deadlock in a sweltering stadium set up a meeting between the European champions and the reigning world champions. Re-live the action below:

Netherlands 0 - 0 Sweden

Extra time: After the spectacular semi-final between England and the USA yesterday this one has been a huge let down. The play has been slow and it's lacked intensity. The drama of penalties could save it though.

Sweden start the extra time but immediately give the ball to the Dutch.

ET 93 mins: Groenen sends the ball to the right for van de Sanden who puts a ball into the box. It's too long and Miedema can't control it.

Groenen puts a long ball into the box, again aiming for Miedema but Lindahl gets a touch to the ball and pushes it away.

Netherlands 0 - 0 Sweden

ET 99 mins: Sweden look very tired. They've done nothing but defend since the end of the 90 minutes. The Dutch win a corner that comes to nothing.

The Netherlands probably have the best chance to win this game now, they need to wear down Sweden, keep the ball and then take the chance that will surely come.

Netherlands 1 - 0 Sweden - Groenen

ET 99 mins: GOAL! There it is.

The Dutch walk the ball forward, Sweden back off, as the ball is given to Groenen. She's on the edge of the box and hits a low right footed shot to the far post, beats Lindahl and squeezes it into the corner!

Advantage Netherlands!

ET second half: The Netherlands have 15 minutes to hold out and they make it to the World Cup final. This is the first Women's World Cup semi-final to go to extra time and the effect can be seen on the players.

Seger sends the ball into the box but Blackstenius can't get on the end of the pass and it goes out of play.

ET 111 mins: van de Sanden runs the ball into the box before turning and giving it to van de Donk out wide. Eriksson takes her out and gives away a free kick.

The Dutch should try to keep it in the corner but instead they whip the ball into the box and Miedema wins the header but sends it wide. Great to see a team still going for it instead of seeing out the match.
