Steve Holland training notes could suggest England team

England have apparently accidentally leaked their team for their second World Cup 2018 game against Panama.

Photos have emerged of Gareth Southgate’s assistant Steve Holland holding a tactics sheet with the names of 11 England players and what seems to be their understudy underneath.

Judging by the photograph, Ruben Loftus-Cheek is set to start ahead of Raheem Sterling, while Marcus Rashford will come in for Dele Alli and partner captain Harry Kane up front.

Those are the only two changes to the team that started the 2-1 win over Tunisia on Monday, where both Rashford and Loftus-Cheek came off the bench to have a positive impact.

The only position not visible on Holland’s notes is the left-back spot, which is currently held by Ashley Young but Danny Rose replaced him in Volgograd. It remains to be seen if the Tottenham defender did enough to persuade Southgate he is worthy of a starting role.

Interestingly, there is no mention of Alli’s name on the sheet suggesting he will not be risked on Sunday after England confirmed he would not train on Thursday as he continues to be monitored by medical staff.

His name only appeared in red ink underneath, seemingly highlighting he is injured for the game. Alli started for England on Monday when he looked set to come off in the first half after suffering a knock. Fabian Delph was stripped and seemingly ready to come on, but Alli managed 80 minutes before eventually being replaced.

In a tweet, England said: "The Three Lions will be back on the training field shortly, as we begin our build-up for Sunday’s game again Panama. Dele Alli is the only absentee from the session, as he continues his recovery from a slight thigh strain."

Southgate is set to stick with the same back three, despite criticisms that there was always a centre-back free when attacking, with Kyle Walker, John Stones and Harry Maguire retaining their places.

Leaked England XI vs Panama: Pickford; Walker, Stones, Maguire; Trippier, Henderson, Young/Rose; Loftus-Cheek, Lingard; Rashford, Kane.
