What Tyson Fury told Otto Wallin backstage ahead of hospital trip after bloody heavyweight fight

The lineal heavyweight champion battled to a gruesome points victory

Tyson Fury dubbed Otto Wallin ‘the great Swede’ in the dressing room after their heavyweight title fight on Saturday night, before making a trip to the University Medical Center of South Nevada for treatment on several deep cuts to his face.

Fury, a 1-25 underdog with most bookmakers, fought to a bloody unanimous points decision in a fight he was supposed to dominate.

He made a bright start to the contest only to suffer two cuts over his right eye, a deep gash on the eyebrow and another on the eyelid, which caused him problems with blood running into his eye for the remainder of the night.

But he was able to withstand Wallin’s late attacks to claim a unanimous points victory, 116-112, 117-111, 118-110.

And, after the fight, Fury made sure to pay tribute to his opponent.

In the dressing room ahead of his trip to hospital, Fury was pictured with his arm around Walin, praising his performance in the title fight.

“Thank you Otto Wallin for a great fight,” he tells Wallin, whose record now stands at 20-1. “I’ve always said – never underestimate anybody and respect every fighter. Otto Wallin, the great Swede.

“He came and gave me a good fight. He took a lot of punches to the body and head and should be very proud of himself this week.”

“You’re a good champion,” the Swede says in return.
