Ian Thorpe's bid to swim at the 2012 Olympics took a major hit yesterday when he failed to qualify for the finals of the 200m freestyle at the Australian trials in Adelaide.
Thorpe could not make it past the semis, finishing sixth in his heat. Only the top two finishers in the final are guaranteed an Olympic place. He can still make it to the Olympics in the 100m freestyle, the heats for which get under way tomorrow.
