Despite taking a wrong turn on the bike, Alistair Brownlee broke the Abu Dhabi International triathlon record on Saturday with a time of three hours 20 minutes and 18 seconds, in his first race back since winning Olympic gold in London.

"The bike was a challenge. I saw a sign on the bike course and thought that was where I needed to go," Brownlee said of his cycling mistake. "It was only when I got back on the course I realised I had been there before."
