Super League champions Leeds kept in touch with the top of the table after an easy 44-10 win at Hull KR. Kallum Watkins scored two of their tries and Ian Kirke his first in Super League for two years while Kevin Sinfield took his total of goals for the club beyond the 1,500 mark.

Brian Noble's first game as coach of Salford brought them a 34-30 victory over Castleford that lifted them off the foot of the table.

Cas, still looking for a new coach, were kept in the game by Rangi Chase, who set up five tries before being intercepted by Danny Williams for the winner. Huddersfield won 28-20 at the Catalan Dragons, despite having Luke Robinson sent off for a high tackle. Joe Wardle scored two tries for the Giants.

A depleted St Helens lost at London for the first time in 11 years. They led at half-time, but tries from Tommy Lee and Michael Robertson brought the Broncos a 21-14 win that coach Tony Rea thinks could revive their season.

Wigan remained top despite Tom Lineham's hat-trick of tries against them for Hull. It was four tries each but Pat Richards' extra goals made the difference in a 28-20 win.

Wakefield won 28-26 at Widnes.
