Saints worry how long Sculthorpe will be out with injury

That is not the knee that he had reconstructed last season, but Saints are still concerned about his prospects as they wait for the results of a scan.

"The Great Britain medical staff are looking after the scan and we will know more after that," said the Saints coach, Daniel Anderson. "He has not had much luck over the last year and obviously we hope to have him back sooner rather than later."

Anderson said he was in the dark over suggestions that Vinnie Anderson, who played for the Kiwis on Tuesday, could be on his way to help Wigan's fight against relegation.

"I've heard nothing about it and I certainly wouldn't want to lose him," he said. "He's an international-class player and he will play plenty of football for us during the rest of the season, especially with Mike Bennett still injured and this new doubt over Scully."

Bradford, from whom Wigan signed Stuart Fielden for a world record fee last week, have denied that they are going to be raided by the Warriors again. Paul Johnson is set to join Warrington for next season and Terry Newton has assured the Bulls that he wants to stay. Wigan are, however, poised to sign Thomas Leuluai from Harlequins for next season.

Their more immediate moves are likely to be outward ones, with Kevin Brown to join Huddersfield for the rest of the season. Bryn Hargreaves and Paul Prescott have already gone out on loan to Leigh as Wigan try to avoid violating their salary cap.

Lesley Vainikolo has been told he has no case to answer after being placed on report for a dangerous tackle during the Test at St Helens. He could still be in doubt for Bradford's Super League game at Salford tomorrow after limping off with a knee injury.
