Williams to face Saints' all-stars on Salford debut

St Helens might have lost three of their last five Super League games, but there is a reminder of their strength in depth today as they field 13 full or potential internationals against Salford.

Saints' squad includes 10 candidates for Brian Noble's Great Britain side for Knowsley Road on Tuesday and three who are likely to represent New Zealand.

"Most of them won't worry about it, but a few who haven't been there before or haven't been there for a while might have it in their minds," said their coach, Daniel Anderson. "But the best way for them to impress is by playing well."

Salford, without the injured Karl Fitzpatrick, John Wilshere and Anthony Stewart and with Andrew Dunemann doubtful, give a debut to the 18-year-old winger Daley Williams.

"Daley has been playing really well in the Under-21s and what a place to make your debut," said his coach, Karl Harrison. "He's been buzzing about it all week, ever since we told him."

Harrison also hopes to get a work permit for Danny Lima in time for the prop to make his first appearance on loan from Warrington.

Harlequins have four players back at the Catalans Dragons tonight - Danny Williams, Matt Gafa, Mark McLinden and Thomas Leuluai. Leuluai may face his fellow Kiwi scrum-half Stacey Jones, whose availability for his country on Tuesday will not be confirmed until after this evening's match.

The Dragons lost their chief executive, Grant Mayer, to Manly this week but they havesigned Casey McGuire from Brisbane and the French Test prop David Ferriol, from Limoux, for next season.

Wigan have sent the prop Bryn Hargreaves on a month's loan to Leigh and are negotiating to lend out other players following the arrival of Stuart Fielden.

Jamie Durbin, who started the season with Widnes, and Gareth Brain, formerly of Hunslet, have been banned for two years after positive tests for prohibited steroids. Calvin Watson, also of Hunslet, has been suspended for a year after testing positive for the active ingredient of cocaine.
