WWE: Ronda Rousey on Steph McMahon 'What did I ever do... but give her an opportunity'

WrestleMania 34 takes place in Sunday night to close out another frantic 12 months of WWE action on the Grandest Stage of them All in New Orleans.

The Mercedez Benz Superdome stages the 34th edition of WrestleMania, which sees a number of fascinating matches booked and the potential second departure of Brock Lesnar, plus a number of rumoured returns including that of the supposedly retired Undertaker.

But one of the biggest matches of the night could well be that of AJ Styles against Shinsuke Nakamura as the two fan-favourites go up against each other for the WWE Championship, while both women’s titles will be on the line as Charlotte Flair takes on Asuka for the Smackdown Championship and Alexa Bliss defends against Nia Jax for the Raw version.

But it’s the professional debut of Ronda Rousey – who teams up with Kurt Angle to face Triple H and Stephanie McMahon – that could well be the highlight as the former UFC champion makes her bow in the WWE.

Smackdown Women's Championship Match

Hey presto, it's come back to bite Asuka in the ass. Charlotte twice drives Asuka's head into the canvas, and Charlotte goes to the top rope for the Moonsault. Counter! Asuka somehow turns the Moonsault into an arm triangle and goes for the submission, only for Charlotte to show her brute strength and power out of it and into the Boston Crab. Asuka counters into a pin count for two, Charlotte does the same, and the crowd applaud in recognition. Great stuff.

Smackdown Women's Championship Match

Ouch. Asuka halts a fierce attack from Charlotte by suplexing the champion from the apron to the ground below. Both are down and in pain, and just get back into the ring at the count of nine.

Smackdown Women's Championship Match

Charlotte bellows "I'm the Queen" in the face of Asuka, which works in only triggering a furious response from the Japanese who flies through the air with a flying dropkick for a two count, and then promptly stomps on the back of Charlotte twice that drives her into the mat. Charlotte responds with a series of chops with Asuka up on the turnbuckle, before pulling off an incredible backflip off the turnbuckle that drives Asuka into the canvas.

That was incredible, and somehow only gets a two-count. Charlotte then lands Natural Selection, but Asuka locks her into the submission and Charlotte is moments away from tapping!

Smackdown Women's Championship Match

Spear! From nowhere, Charlotte hits a powerful spear and immediately pins Asuka. That's got to be it...1...2...kick-out! She follows with the Figure Four, bridges into the Figure Eight...will Asuka tap....YES!

CHARLOTTE BEATS ASUKA! THE STREAK IS OVER!

Smackdown Women's Championship Match

What. A. Fight. Charlotte becomes the first person to beat Asuka, and through the pain of losing, she congratulates Charlotte before the two embrace in the ring. The WWE Universe applauds, but take nothing away from that match, it was nothing short of incredible.

Hold on one minute...as Charlotte celebrates her victory on the ramp, a referee runs down it and straight to John Cena in the crowd. He tells him something that we can't quite hear, Cena look at him in disbelief, then promptly jumps the barricade and sprints up the ramp. Has The Undertaker accepted his challenge?

United States Championship Fatal 4-Way Match

Bobby Roode walks out to signal the arrival of the US title match, but his entrance is quickly interrupted by Aiden English who introduces The Bulgarian Brute, Rusev. Of course, for a Fatal 4-Way we need two other competitors, and Sunil Singh appears to introduce Jinder Mahal, the former WWE Champion.

United States Championship Fatal 4-Way Match

After all of the other WWE announcers are introduced, finally the reigning champion Randy Orton makes his way to the ring. If Orton had been going up against any one of his three opponents, he would be the heavy favourite, but against all three at once? It's a tough ask, but as Charlotte proved nothing is impossible.
