Nicknamed "Magic Man", Wednesday's Par 3 challenge winner Ted Potter Jnr must have known even his best spell wouldn't be enough as he attempted to become the first player to win the traditional curtain-raiser and main event in the same year. "I don't care about the curse," he insisted. "Just winning something here makes my week already."

Spare a thought for young Alan Dunbar.
