Cameron Champ has withdrawn from the Travelers Championship after becoming the latest PGA Tour player to contract coronavirus.

The American insists he remains in good spirits despite testing positive for Covid-19 a week after Nick Watney was forced to withdraw from the RBC Heritage before his second round.

Champ will now self-isolate with the 25-year-old emphasising the need to take the necessary precautions some his “disappointment”.

“I feel great physically and I was obviously surprised and disappointed to learn of the test result,” Champ told the official PGA Tour website.

“It’s important now to take the necessary steps and measures to protect others, including my loved ones.”

Champ impressed last week at Colonial to finish in an impressive T-14.

The result sees him rise in the FedEx Cup standings to 19th.

The PGA Tour is expected to release full testing results on Wednesday.
