The fact that The 144th Open Championship will run into a fifth day has not hurt the tournament one bit following the emergence of 22-year-old Paul Dunne.

The amateur golfer from Dublin stunned watchers at St Andrews as he carded a brilliant six-under-par 66 on Sunday to put himself in the frame to not only take the Silver Medal for the leading amateur, but to win the Claret Jug outright.

Dunne's playing partner on Sunday, Louis Oosthuizen, joins him on -12 along with Australian challenger Jason Day and Ooshuizen will join Dunne once again in Monday's final pairing at 2.30pm. However, the trio will be constantly looking over their shoulder with the grand slam-seeking Jordan Spieth primed to attack as he sits one shot off the lead.

To find the eventual winner you might just have to look further down the leaderboard given that 17 players are still within five shots of the lead, with a further eight players one -7 who will insist they are still in the running.

With the fourth round action set to run into Monday for just the second time in 144 years of The Open, fans will have to keep an eye on all matters at St Andrews to see if an amateur can win the championship for the first time since 1930.
