Tiger Woods expects to be back at St Andrews when The Open returns to the Old Course in 2021, only there might not be quite so much of him.

Following the former world No 1's disastrous two rounds at the tournament, Woods missed the cut and with it saw any hopes of adding a fourth Claret Jug to his collection disappear. The American was four-over par on his first round on Thursday and completed his a second-round of 74 on Saturday amid the wild weather conditions.

Despite his disappointment, having gone into the event claiming he felt capable of challenging, Woods was still in the mood to joke with reporters.

When asked if he was looking forward to returning to St Andrews in 2021, the 29-year-old replied: "I'll probably have less hair then, and, hopefully, a better game."

The Open is to conclude on Monday for only the second time in the history of the tournament due to the wind and rain that have battered the Old Course.
