England vs Ireland Six Nations preview

Follow the latest updates live from Twickenham as England take on Ireland with their Six Nations championship hopes on the line.

Ireland arrive in London with two wins from two after seeing off Scotland and Wales, but face their toughest ask yet as they travel away from home for the first time to face an England side that got back to winning ways against Scotland last time out following the opening defeat against France – who are now favourites for the Six Nations title after their stunning win over Wales yesterday.

England boss Eddie Jones has made four personnel changes for the match, with Manu Tuilagi returning from injury and shifting Jonathan Joseph out to the wing for the first time as Elliot Daly moves to full-back, while Joe Marler, Courtney Lawes and Ben Youngs also return. Ireland meanwhile are forced into one change as Iain Henderson misses out following the birth of his son, with Devin Toner coming into the starting XV. Follow the live action below.

Prediction

England 22-17 Ireland: There haven’t been many one-sided results so far this tournament and, with bad weather predicted once again this weekend, expect more of the same. The Twickenham factor should prove beneficial to England given what they did to Ireland here last August, and with Manu Tuilagi and Henry Slade back, the hosts seem to have a confidence about them this week that they have lacked this championship.

65 mins: England 24-5 Ireland

That's a controversial one. Jonny May snatches the ball from a loose ruck and breaks away down the blindside. he only has Henshaw to beat, and elects to kick it on upfield. However, he can't chase after it as Henshaw takes him out after the ball is gone, and Twickenham boos the decision to let it go without review. That in my opinion was a bit naughty from Henshaw, and he's got away with one there.

Conway meanwhile is going off for an HIA and Roos Byrne comes on, while Curry is replaced by Ben Earl.

69 mins: England 24-5 Ireland

Eddie Jones comes charging down the stairs from the coach's box and gives some last-minute instructions to Will Stuart, who then comes on to replace Sinckler. England have a scrum on their own 22, and when Ford fires it long down the middle, May gets caught offside to give Ireland a penalty inside the England half. They play the advantage and Aki makes a nice break down the right channel, but Peyper brings play back for the penalty. Byrne sends it to touch about 17 metres out.

73 mins: England 24-5 Ireland

Daly runs up with the interception on, but it bounces off his chest and the chances goes. Ireland attack and progress to the English five metre line, but Byrne is penalised for sealing off the ruck under pressure from Earl and Joseph and England get the clearance to touch. Henry Slade meanwhile makes his return to action as he replaces Manu Tuilagi.

75 mins: England 24-5 Ireland

Stockdale sends Cooney away with a one-handed offload inside and the scrum-half is stopped illegally by Cowan-Dickie with a high tackle. With a penalty advantage, Sexton chips over for Earls to chase, but it just beats him into touch and we come back for the infringement. Sexton kicks to touch, but England flood the maul and win the turnover.

79 mins: England 24-5 Ireland

England spoil Irish possession and are happy to launch it downfield, and Farrell does well to offload the ball next to the touchline to Daly to keep the ball live, only for his subsequent pass to miss Ford and result in England conceding a penalty.

Byrne sends the kick to touch fewer than 10 metres out, and can Ireland finish with a consolation here?

Ireland secure the lineout and go through the phases to work possession in towards the posts...TRY FOR IRELAND!

Full-time: Ireland go through multiple phases and get the try they want, with replacement Andrew Porter burrowing over from close range and John Cooney adding the conversion. However, it will count for very little as it won't even bag them a losing bonus point...

England beat Ireland 24-12!
