MOTOR RACING Nigel Mansell wants to to continue drving in Formula One racing as long as he still has the public's full support.

Speaking at the Autosport International Show in Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre yesterday, which he opened, Mansell told the crowd that he would not be retiring, despite being snubbed by the Rothmans Williams Renault team.

"You give me the strength and will to carry on," he said. "Look at you today, your support and your faces. While I have your support, I will try to continue racing."

Asked about the speculation linking him with McLaren, Mansell asked the public what they wanted.

He said: "Do you want me to continue racing?" The crowd replied: "Yes." "Who do you want me to race for?" Mansell continued. "McLaren," they responded. "Have you spoken to Ron Dennis yet?" Mansell asked.

Dennis, the Marlboro McLaren boss, has already decided on his line-up for the new season, but will not say if Mansell is in until a later date.
