F1 preview: Lap of the Hungarian Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton clinched a dominant Hungarian Grand Prix victory for the eighth time in his career to tie Michael Schumacher's record for the most wins at one circuit, and take the lead in the 2020 Formula One world championship in the process.

Having set a blistering pole position time with a new lap track record, Hamilton powered away to dominate the entire race and secure his second successive victory, keeping everyone at bay and at one point lapping all cars up to fifth position before deciding to take an additional pit stop to go for fastest lap, which he duly took to claim an addition world championship point.

Behind him, Max Verstappen drove a phenomenal recovery drive after crashing in the rain on his way to the grid to hold off Valtteri Bottas and take second place following an incredible re-build job from the Red Bull team on the grid, while both the Ferraris of Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc found themselved lapped on another disappointing day. Lap 2: Bottas definitely jumped that one, replays show, and despite stopping before he pulled away, that's probably going to be a penalty there. Hamilton has checked out in front, but Verstappen is all over Stroll. Leclerc and Bottas put and put on slicks!

Lap 3: Three laps in and Hamilton's lead is a mammoth 7.7s! Hamilton pits, and Stroll follows him in from second, but Verstappen continues and takes the lead. Vettel also pits, but as everyone comes in the Ferrari gets held up and is delayed from the start!

Lap 4: Latifi pitted for slicks, and immediately spun on his way out with what looked like a puncture. Verstappen pits from the lead.

Lap 5: Hamilton retakes the lead, but Verstappen has overcut Stroll and is in second place. However, thanks to their smart thinking before the start, Magnussen is in third with Grosjean fourth - a masterstroke for Haas!

Lap 7: Conditions have improved enough for DRS to be enabled, and Stroll utilises it perfectly to get past Grosjean on the straight and take fourth place into Turn 1.

Lap 7: Sainz and Latifi are under investigation for contact in the pit lane, while Raikkonen has a five-second penalty for starting in the wrong grid position - which is likely to have happened after Haas pitted their drivers. Bottas also remains under investigation for the apparent jump start.

Lap 8: Bottas tries to get by Leclerc in the battle for sixth, but he has to go onto the wet line and immediately loses all grip in Turn 2 and skids off as a result. He gets back on track but loses a second or two there.

Lap 12: Bottas is the next to get on the move, as he finally passes Leclerc and then follows it up with with a swift move on Grosjean to move up to fifth position. Still no punishment for any jump start, and did he get it stopped short before leaving his grid box?

Lewis Hamilton's radio:

"We're seeing some rain on the radar, 12 minutes away. It will only be light."
