Lando Norris tests positive for coronavirus on holiday in Dubai
The McLaren driver is now self-isolating in his hotel for the next 14 days
Lando Norris has tested positive for coronavirus while on holiday in Dubai.
McLaren confirmed the 21-year-old had tested positive for Covid-19 after opting to take a test after losing his sense of taste and smell.
Norris, who is in Dubai on vacation and will now self-isolate at his hotel in line with local protocol, confirmed he is feeling “alright” and that there are no other symptoms.
“Hi everyone, hope you are all keeping well,” Norris wrote on social media. “Yesterday I lost my sense of taste and smell so immediately self-isolated and took a test.
“It’s come back as positive [for coronavirus], so I’ve told everyone that I’ve been in contact with and will be self-isolating for the next 14 days.
“I feel alright and have no other symptoms, but I just wanted to let you all know. Take care.”
Norris finished the 2020 season in ninth position in the drivers’ standings, eight points behind his McLaren team-mate for the season Carlos Sainz, and with a best finish of third in his second season in F1.
An official McLaren statement said: “In line with local regulations, he is now self-isolating at his hotel for 14 days. He is currently feeling well and reports no other symptoms.”
