Bubba Wallace responds to FBI investigation results

Donald Trump has demanded an apology from Bubba Wallace and labelled Nascar’s noose controversy a “hoax”.

The FBI recently concluded that no hate crime was committed after a noose was discovered in a stall used by the black driver at Alabama’s Talladega Superspeedway.

The investigation concluded that it was a pull-rope handle that had been there since at least October 2019, and now the President of the United States has hit out at Wallace on Twitter, while blaming him for the sport’s low television ratings.

Trump wrote: “Has Bubba Wallace apologised to all of those great Nascar drivers and officials who came to his aid, stood by his side and were willing to sacrifice everything for him, only to find out that the whole thing was just another hoax?

“That and the flag decision has caused the lowest ratings ever!”

Wallace led a successful campaign to have the Confederate flag banned from the sport, given what it represents to African-Americans.

The 26-year-old insists he faces backlash “every day” following the conclusion to the FBI’s investigation.

“You get backlash every day,” Wallace revealed. “I’m used to it. It stings a little bit worse when they’re trying to test your character... and try to take something away from me that’s false.

“But the backlash will always be there. It doesn’t matter if we provide 100 percent facts and evidence, photo evidence.

“People are going to Photoshop it to make me look like the bad person. At the end of the day, I will always have haters.

“I will always have the motivators to go out there and to try to dethrone me from the pedestal that I am on.”
