Rio 2016: Britain surpass London 2012 medals haul in Rio after women claim 4x400m bronze
The quartet of Eilidh Doyle, Anyika Onuora, Emily Diamond and Christine Ohuruogu secured third in three minutes 25.88 seconds
Great Britain's women have won 4x400 metres bronze and taken the country's overall medals haul beyond London 2012.
Shortly after Mo Farah retained 5,000m gold, the quartet of Eilidh Doyle, Anyika Onuora, Emily Diamond and Christine Ohuruogu took to the track for the penultimate race at the Olympic Stadium.
The British women impressively secured third in three minutes 25.88 seconds - their first 4x400m relay medal at an Olympics since Barcelona 1992.
Furthermore, bronze took the medals haul to 66, beating the 65 achieved in London four years ago.
A post-Games dip has not come to fruition and Team GB are guaranteed to reach at least 67 medals as boxer Joe Joyce faces France's Tony Yoka in Sunday's super-heavyweight final.
