David Nicholson, can head off for a two-week safari in Zambia next week a happy man after passing the pounds 1m mark in prize-money won for the season at Stratford yesterday evening.

After Formal Invitation beat Bayline Star in the novices' chase, Nicholson said: "I'm just the front man. There are 40 of us at Jackdaws Castle, with 30 here tonight and 10 at Aintree.

"We said in October the aim was for pounds 1m and 100 winners. We've 96 winners so far and if the rain keeps falling the century should come."

David Loder's Abou Zouz is likely to make his reappearance in the Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh a week tomorrow after pleasing his connections in a gallop after racing at Newmarket yesterday.
