Grand National: Attaglance aims to prove he is worth a look
The vacancy left by Big Buck’s at Cheltenham was worthily filled by Solwhit and, having won on this card in the past, he has obvious prospects of following up in the John Smith’s Liverpool Hurdle today. But he did have a hard race at the Festival, and a sporting chance is taken with one who was tough enough to win fiercely contested handicaps at both meetings last year.
Attaglance (2.50) has since been experimenting over fences, but that has not really paid off and, freshened up since, he could prove value at big odds as he reverts to timber. Of those who did run at Cheltenham, Holywell is most tempting, having travelled really well in his new blinkers and looking the type to take to this sharp track.
Another stepping up in class from success in a Cheltenham handicap is Alderwood (2.15). He landed a gamble in the Grand Annual Chase and proved his ability to soak up races in short order last spring.
Eduard (1.45) was turned over at Kelso last time but remains a very nice prospect for this longer trip, while Russian War (3.25) looks to have been primed for this better ground and is very dangerously treated on his hurdles form.
