The Ascot Chase Raceday is a popular fixture in the sporting calendar, although no fans will descend to watch the Jump action on Saturday afternoon. The course traditionally increases the excitement of horse racing fans eagerly waiting for Cheltenham Festival, and there is plenty to get excited for as racing returns to Ascot.
The Grade 1 Betfair Ascot Chase has a number of star attractions on offer to match the prestige of the event to promise a competitive day. Previous winners include One Man, Monet’s Garden, Kauto Star, Cue Card, Silviniaco Conti and Paul Nicholls’ star Cyrname. Cyrname, who dominated a high-class field with a 17-length victory in 2019, is among five declared for this year’s race including defending champion Riders Onthe Storm.
The card also boasts the Grade 2 Reynoldstown Novices’ Chase, deemed an important stepping stone to Cheltenham’s Grade 1 three-mile novice Chase, and it’s a race which has been won by many prestigious horses over the years.

Gosh!
Goshen only won by 22 lengths at Wincanton! Cyrname remains easy to back in the big one at Ascot (3.35) but has come in from 2.4 to 2.22 on the exchanges.
He’s back!
Goshen has just bolted up in the Kingwell! He trounced the hot favourite Song For Someone and is now 10-1 for the Champion Hurdle. "Brilliant for Jamie and dad! They were quite confident he was back to himself. He was back to his level again today. He put good solid horses to bed,” said Joshua Moore on ITV.
We’re building up to the Kingwell Hurdle at Wincanton (3.18), which should be a cracker. Song For Someone is hot favourite, with Goshen (4.0) on a retrieval mission.

15 ran.
What a day for the Skelton brothers, with an incredible treble. Again, this winner showed incredible tenacity to make pretty much all the running, with the rail to help. A sad post-script: Lami Serge, one of the most popular horses in training, suffered a fatal injury.
On the off on Betfair, it was pretty much impossible to split the top two in the betting here at Ascot. Shannon Bridge has set out in front.
We're ten minutes away from the 3.00 At Ascot, with Gladiateur Allen and Arrivederci disputing favouritism at the top of the betting. The frustrating non-runner means it's a 15-runner handicap so watch your bets.
Lord save us!
Well that was an incredible race. Lord Du Mesnil showed a superb attitude, with the rail to help, to score at Haydock at 8-1. He’s 33s for the National now.
More cracking action here at Haydock, Enqarde sent off favourite in the Grand National trial. It’s hard to keep up with all this classy jumps fare.
