The Rugby World Cup quarter-finals began on Saturday with two mouth-watering games as South Africa took on Wales and New Zealand renewed their rivalry with France.

• Pool B winners South Africa defeat Pool A runners-up Wales 23-19

• Gareth Davies scored for Wales before Fourie du Preez replied late on

• Defending champions New Zealand thrashed France 62-13 in record-breaking victory

• France knocked out of the World Cup to end Philippe Saint-Andre's reign in disaster

• New Zealand will meet South Africa in the semi-finals at Twickenham next Saturday
