Scotland vs Ireland LIVE rugby: Final score and result from Six Nations game today
Ireland took another step towards the Grand Slam
Wings Mack Hansen and James Lowe scored a try each for Ireland as flyhalf Johnny Sexton became the joint leading scorer in Six Nations history following a pulsating 22-7 victory over Scotland at Murrayfield on Sunday.
Replacement number eight Jack Conan scored Ireland’s third try as they turned up the heat in the second half despite the loss of both hookers to injury, leading to flanker Josh van der Flier throwing in at the line-out and three props in the front row of the scrum.
Scotland were in the game at halftime as they trailed 8-7 having scored a try through centre Huw Jones, which will give them some confidence heading into the Rugby World Cup where they face Ireland and South Africa in their pool with only two teams to advance to the quarter-finals.
Ireland, who have claimed the Triple Crown and have their sights now set on a Grand Slam, lead the Six Nations table with 19 points from four games, four ahead of second-placed France.
They host England in their final game next Saturday while Scotland welcome Italy.
Scotland 7-22 Ireland, 79 minutes
The victory will be Ireland’s, and time appears to have run out on Scottish hopes of a losing bonus point. They’d like to finish with a flourish, though, and a penalty won on halfway allows them to advance up towards the Ireland 22.
That will be a sight to concern Gregor Townsend, though: Finn Russell limps away, his afternoon over prematurely. Chris Harris comes on.

Cian Healy might just have a third life in an Ireland shirt as a specialist scrummaging hooker - Ireland have won virtually every engagement since his introduction in the centre of the front row.
Ireland fail to correctly tap the penalty they earn from Healy and co’s latest shoving, though, and Scotland do finally get some set piece joy with the visitors deemed to have caused the next scrum collapse.

So nearly a scorching Irish score! This would have been a gem, James Lowe haring out of his own 22 and lasering a flat pass to Jamison Gibson-Park filling in on the leftward extreme.
Gibson-Park puts his foot down, accelerating away from the Scottish chasers. He has Lowe as an option inside but goes beyond him to James Ryan, lumbering up in support.
The lock is felled by Kyle Steyn’s lumberjack chop at the knees, and as Ryan falls he misdirects his offload with Lowe hopeful of taking a scoring pass. It harmlessly hits the deck having been thrown forward.

And some of the accuracy has gone out of Scotland’s game. Ireland spread nicely defensively, forcing Sione Tuipulotu to try a little lofted cross-kick. A club or three too many - out on the full by quite a distance, prompting a raised hand of apology from the centre.
Scotland 7-22 Ireland, 74 minutes
Ireland have used all of their replacements, so Bundee Aki returns with Ringrose off. Robbie Henshaw shifts out one to outside centre.
Scotland begin to launch an attack of promise, but a slightly hobbled Blair Kinghorn is steered into touch by three Irish tacklers.
Scotland 7-22 Ireland, 73 minutes
The crowd applaud as Ringrose is lifted on to the medical cart with a stabilising brace aroudn his head and neck. The centre lifts a reassuring thumb to the crowd.
We’ll restart with a Scotland scrum inside their own 22.
Scotland 7-22 Ireland, 73 minutes
It is a horrible way for Garry Ringrose’s 50th cap to end. The centre has been as good as ever today, and we saw how Ireland missed him against Italy. You only hope this isn’t too serious.
Scotland 7-22 Ireland, 73 minutes
Thankfully, Garry Ringrose does appear able to move, though this is obviously a concerning injury. Assuming Ireland see things out from here, there is every chance they have to hunt a grand slam against England without Dan Sheehan, Ronan Kelleher, Iain Henderson, Caelan Doris and now Ringrose - a worrying injury list for Andy Farrell after an otherwise positive day.
Ireland attack coach Mike Catt looks down anxiously as a stretcher is prepared.
Scotland 7-22 Ireland, 73 minutes
Oh, that’s not nice to see. Garry Ringrose dives at the hips of the long-striding Blair Kinghorn, the centre’s head bouncing away uncomfortably from a bony bit of the Scottish carrier.
The medics rush on to attend to him, with Luke Pearce calling a halt to proceedings a minute or so later so Ringrose can be safely treated.
Scotland 7-22 Ireland, 71 minutes
No outright points scoring record for Johnny Sexton today - he’ll have ten minutes of rest to end the game, with Ross Byrne introduced at fly half.
