MARCUS CAMPBELL, who routed Stephen Hendry 9-0 at last season's Liverpool Victoria UK Championship went out of this year's edition of the tournament in the second round of qualifying in Bournemouth last night. The Scottish professional was beaten 6-4 by Northern Ireland's Patrick Wallace.

Campbell fought hard to stay in contention after falling 5-1 behind. He had recovered three frames by the time play was suspended to make way for the evening games, but after a three-hour interval Wallace sealed the match in the 10th frame, wich last 55 minutes.

"The break came at the wrong time for me," Campbell said. "But what really cost me was a really bad run of the balls. You need a few wee flicks and flukes but I didn't get any."
