ULRIKE MAIER'S death on 29 January during the World Cup downhill at Garmisch-Partenkirchen was not due to a collision with a timing post, the Munich public prosecutor, Rudiger Hodl, said yesterday. He refused to speculate about possible causes of death and said a legal medical expert would have to be called in.
