Sports Letters: Blues of note
Sir: I would like to reassure your correspondent, Ms Anne Allison, ('A question of sport', Letters, 18 December) that her fears need not extend to the less well publicised varsity sport of American football. The Cambridge team is largely undergraduate, so players must be on an equal academic footing with their fellow students. American footballing ability is not usually considered by admissions tutors, although it has become noticeable that a high percentage of the team comes from undergraduate science and engineering courses.
Yours sincerely,
IAN CALDERBANK
President, Cambridge University American Football Club
