Andrew Richardson, the Lincolnshire left-hander, beat Tomas Catar 6-4, 6-1 in the opening rubber. Then Danny Sapsford, the British No 4 from Weybridge, clinched victory by defeating Martin Hromec 6-3, 7-6 in the top singles match.
