Jarkko Nieminen beats Greg Rusedski's record of the fastest ever ATP Tour victory with 28 minute defeat of Bernard Tomic

Jarkko Nieminen's win over Bernard Tomic at the Sony Open is thought to be the quickest recorded on the ATP Tour, as the Finn beat an 18-year-old record set by Great Britain's Greg Rusedski.

The 6-0 6-1 win lasted just 28 minutes and 20 seconds, Tomic winning only 13 points and dropping his serve on five occasions.

That beat the mark of 29 minutes set by Rusedski when he beat German Carsten Arriens 6-0 6-0 at the 1996 Sydney International.

Tomic's presence at the event in Miami was a surprise, coming ahead of the Australian's expected 12-week recovery schedule after hip surgery which followed his withdrawal from his Australian Open first-round match against Rafael Nadal in January.
