Murray puts feet up on a rainy day

Surprise, surprise. The first major tournaments of the grass-court season are due to begin today, but with rain forecast – and plenty more expected during the week – the start of play on the outside courts at Queen's Club has been brought forward to 11.30am.

Andy Murray, who has won the title twice in the last three years, is the top seed but has a first-round bye and will not play until tomorrow at the earliest. His first opponent will be France's Nicolas Mahut, a proven grass-court player, or Spain's Guillermo Garcia-Lopez. Thereafter the Scot could meet Grigor Dimitrov and Feliciano Lopez before a semi-final against either Andy Roddick or Gilles Simon. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who lost to Murray in last year's final, is the top seed in the draw's other half.

The Aegon Classic at Edgbaston is also due to start, with Britain's Heather Watson scheduled to face Paula Ormaechea, of Argentina, on centre court.
