Wimbledon 2013: Britain's Kyle Edmund survives tough test to reach boys' singles semi-finals

The fifth seed is among one of Britain's brightest hopes for the future

Britain's Kyle Edmund came through a stiff test provided by a 15 year-old American before taking his place in the semi-final of the boys' singles, beating Stefan Kozlov 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.

The 18 year-old Edmund, seeded fifth, dropped the first set to his hard-hitting but baby-faced opponent but came back strongly as his opponent tired.

As Edmund broke serve to lead 4-3 in the deciding set, Kozlov cramped up and did well to hang on before making a couple of crucial errors on his serve and going down 6-3.

Born in Johannesburg he now lives in Yorkshire and is consolidating his reputation as the country's brightest young men's prospect. Although still eligible for junior events he started competing on the senior circuit last year and made a good impression this Wimbledon by taking eight games off Andy Murray's semi-final opponent Jerzy Janowicz.
