Andy Murray will face Liam Broady, a fellow Briton, in the first round at Wimbledon.

The Scot, who will be aiming to win his second SW19 championship this summer, has not previously faced Broady, who is ranked as the world no 234. It will also be the first time that Murray has faced a compatriot at a Grand Slam.

Murray, the competition's second seed, has been granted a place in the preferrable half to the draw.

His route to the final could include a last-16 tie against Nick Kyrgios and a semi-final against Stanislas Wawrinka.

Novak Djokovic, the reigning champion and Murray's likely opponent in the final, takes on James Ward, another British hopeful, in his first round match. The winner of the tie could then face British men’s no 3 Kyle Edmund.

Roger Federer, the men's third seed, is in the same half of the draw as Djokovic and will start against Argentina’s Guido Pella.

The women's draw sees British no 1 Johanna Jonta up against Monica Puig, the Puerto Rican who she beat in last year's Nottingham grass court tournament.

Serena Williams, who took the women's title at SW19 last year, will face a qualifier or a lucky loser.

Heather Watson, the British women's no 2 who takes on Annika Beck of Germany. Laura Robson, a wildcard entrant, faces a challenging opener against Angelique Kerber, the Australian Open champion.
