Andy Murray will announce within the next few days whether Amélie Mauresmo will continue as his coach.

The Frenchwoman was on trial for the grass season, which for the world No 5 ended with his quarter-final defeat last week to Grigor Dimitrov. One factor in Murray’s decision could be the attitude of some of his entourage, in particular his long-term friend and colleague Dani Vallverdu, a key member of his team for several years.

Vallverdu was unhappy with not being consulted when Murray recruited Mauresmo, particularly as he had been kept in the picture when the Scot appointed her predecessor, Ivan Lendl. Although Vallverdu and Mauresmo eventually got on, it is possible that she will not want to continue in the role if it causes splits.
