Day Five of the Wimbledon Championships sees the third round of the men’s and women’s singles get underway at the All England Club.

Sam Querrey and Gael Monfils open the action on Centre Court at 1pm, followed by Serena Williams and Roger Federer who take on Kristina Mladenovic and Jan-Lennard Struff respectively.

Elsewhere, ​Karolina Pliskova faces Mihaela Buzarnescu on Court One before Milos Raonic goes head to head with Dennis Novak. Follow live updates from the fifth day of coverage:

As usual, here are some talking points to get stuck into before The Championships get underway once again:

Struff of nightmares

Roger Federer has been making his customary serene progress so far and faces Jan-Lennard Struff in the third match on Centre Court. The eight-time champion is yet to drop a set this week, and in fact has won his last 27 sets at the championships. Struff did at least prove he is made of tough stuff when he came through a marathon set against Ivo Karlovic 13-11 in the fifth, but can he lay a glove on the Swiss superstar?

Serena getting stronger

Spare a thought for Kristina Mladenovic, who is next in the crosshairs of seven-time winner Serena Williams. The American has made short work of her first two opponents and, although she will not admit it, the steady trickle of seeds going out has made the prospect of an eighth title a genuine one, less than 10 months after giving birth to her daughter. World number Mladenovic, a doubles specialist ranked 62 in singles, is unlikely to get in the way.

Venus in the mix

In fact the biggest hurdle to come for Serena could be sister Venus, who remains in contention to add to her personal tally of five titles, and they could meet in the semi-finals. The elder sibling is looking more fallible these days, dropping the first set in each of her opening two matches, but crucially she is finding ways to win. Kiki Bertens is next up, having lost to Venus in Miami earlier this year - despite taking the first set.

Murray Az new partner

Andy Murray may be absent but brother Jamie gets his campaign under way, starting in the men's doubles with Brazilian partner Bruno Soares. They play Paolo Lorenzi and Albert Ramos Vinolas, before Murray embarks on a new partnership with former world number one Victoria Azarenka. Murray won the mixed doubles with Martina Hingis last year and will be looking to defend his title. No pressure then, Victoria. Wesley Koolhof and Elise Mertens are up first on Friday evening.

Roger Federer and Serena Williams will try to avoid further upsets at Wimbledon as the third round begins on Friday. 

Federer plays Jan-Lennard Struff of Germany and Williams faces Kristina Mladenovic of France as they continue their quests for a ninth and eighth Wimbledon title, respectively. 

Williams finds herself the favorite again after defending champion Garbine Muguruza lost on Thursday, meaning only two of the top-eight seeded women are still in the field. 

No. 3 Marin Cilic also lost on Thursday, becoming the third of the men's top-10 seeds to go out. 

Five-time champion Venus Williams is also in action later today, facing Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands.

Wimbledon's champion conqueror Alison Van Uytvanck has revealed she feels "free" off the court after coming out.

The Belgian announced in March during a television interview that she was in a same-sex relationship with compatriot and fellow tennis professional Greet Minnen.

They had previously made no secret of their bond on social media.

And Van Uytvanck, who beat defending champion Garbine Muguruza at Wimbledon on Thursday evening, is proud she and Minnen have gone public.

"We just decided to not make it personal and not keep it for ourselves, because I'm happy anyway if it is with a woman or a man," the 24-year-old said.

"I just feel like we don't have to be ashamed of this, and that's why I also want to be free.

"I mean, I'm not sick. I don't have a disease. I just feel like it's good that I could come out as a gay person."

Van Uytvanck earned a first victory over a top 10 player in seeing off Muguruza 5-7 6-2 6-1 in arguably the biggest shock yet at this year's championships.

Keys is on course for an early exit here at SW19. Having lost the first set 5-7, she's now four games down in the second. Rodina, the world No 120, is in full cruise control and showing no signs of fading.
